Public Housing Smoking Bans: Are E-Cigarettes Included?
Vaping is also considered a social activity and can possibly take place in a more residential setting. However, as news is afloat, from 31st of July, which is probably past now by the time this news reaches you, tobacco smoking will be banned in and near public housing however, vaping might still be allowed as no orders have been given related to that as of yet.
News also suggest that e-cigs and vapes will still be permitted in some of the prominent housing schemes and communities. But there is a chance that vaping will be banned in those places where laws regarding combustible material is strictly forbidden. New York, for example, has a Smoke-Free Air Act which prohibits the use of e-cigs in areas where tobacco smoking is also not allowed. Public housing is the newest edition to this mix starting 1st of August. Other places where this act is active are restaurants, parks, offices and some bars.
The plan from Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, which was announced in 2016, says that e-cigs may also be banned indoors and that certain signs and notices will help others in following these rules. The agency also is hopeful that the new rules will ultimately increase the quality of life of smokers and people who surround them and will help smokers in reducing the smoke intake. Smoking in these banned areas will not be a crime per say, but it will be a civil violation and will result in some form of penalty to the residents and tenants. Even when you see there is a major cost coming in the way of the tobacco and e-cig industry, however it is prospected that this ban will ultimately lead to a massive saving of $153 million on healthcare and preventable fires, according to the agency.
Switching to e-cigs is obviously a better option as data revealed from HUD suggests that one-third of public housing residents are actually smokers which doubles the rate of smokers in general population. Which is why, today might be the perfect day to switch to try out vaping and welcome it to your daily life. The comparisons of vaping to cigarettes and cigars are obvious. A few advantages of this are also listed below.
The number one benefit of vaping is how it is a secure way of kicking those smoking pangs. They do not produce tar or carbon monoxide which are found in combustible cigarettes. The toxins present in e-cigarettes are on a very low level compared to regular tobacco cigarettes and cigars. One certain report from Public Health England found that e-cigs are 95% more safer than regular cigarettes.
Apart from this, vaping is a much cheaper option. One research suggested that on average one-pack per day smokers expend over $2500 annually. Compare it to the expenditure of going about the same routine but with e-cigs reduces that cost to a little over $1,300. And finally, the freedom and access to smoke in some legislatively smoke-free zones as most of these areas do not pose a ban on vaping.
